Associate Worship Director

The Associate Worship Director will support the Central Worship Director and other Worship Directors by leading worship across Liberty Church campuses, assisting with the development of campus worship teams, and gaining hands-on experience in all areas of worship ministry in preparation for future campus launch responsibilities. This individual will help lead worship proficiently from either piano or guitar, assist with building volunteer teams, and support technical production for worship services, all while being trained on all aspects of worship and production for future leadership of these teams in a new campus context.

Founded in 1964, Liberty Church has a rich history of serving local communities through multiple campuses across the Gulf Coast region…as well as a campus recently launched in New York. We aim to create a place for prodigals, reach those who need the Good News of Jesus and equip believers to be followers of Jesus who impact their world.  As we continue to expand and prepare for the launch of new campuses, we are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Associate Worship Director to join our team. This developmental role is designed to equip the individual for future leadership, focusing on helping build a worship ministry that aligns with our vision for campus expansion while nurturing a thriving and spiritually-engaged worship environment. Responsibilities

  • Worship Leadership
    • Lead and assist in leading worship for weekend services, special events, and gatherings, ensuring the worship experience is spiritually enriching and of high quality.
    • Lead worship from either piano or guitar, working with the Worship Director to select songs and create cohesive worship sets that align with the message and vision of Liberty Church.
    • Contribute to the growth and spiritual development of the congregation through excellent worship leadership.
  • Team Development and Volunteer Engagement
    • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing worship team members (vocalists, instrumentalists, and other volunteers), preparing them to serve in a new campus environment.
    • Foster a positive, encouraging, and spiritually healthy team atmosphere, ensuring volunteers feel valued and equipped for their roles.
    • Collaborate with the Worship Director in scheduling, rehearsing, and preparing worship teams, ensuring they are spiritually and musically prepared for services.
  • Production/Tech Support
    • Gain experience in worship production, including tracks, sound, lighting, lyrics and live streaming, working closely with the technical team to ensure worship services run smoothly and professionally.
    • Assist with technical support for worship services, ensuring the quality of audio, visuals, and other production elements align with the vision of the church.
    • Oversee the maintenance and operation of worship-related equipment, ensuring everything functions properly for services and events.
  • Preparation for Campus Launch
    • Play an active role in the planning and execution of worship services, learning the leadership skills necessary for leading worship in a new campus setting.
    • Collaborate with the Central Worship Director and other Worship Directors to adapt worship experiences for the specific needs of a campus launch.
    • Support the growth and preparation of worship and production teams, volunteers, and technical aspects in preparation for the successful launch of a new campus.
  • Collaborative Leadership
    • Work closely with the Central Worship Director and other Worship Directors to develop and implement strategies for growth and improvement in the worship ministry.
    • Participate in team meetings, creative planning sessions, and ministry development, providing input and gaining experience in church-wide leadership.
    • Be a proactive, hands-on learner, absorbing leadership principles and practices in a church planting and campus launch context.
  • Administrative Support
    • Assist with managing schedules, worship rehearsals, and other logistical elements of the worship ministry.
    • Help coordinate the preparation and distribution of worship materials (song charts, rehearsal notes, etc.) to the team.
    • Maintain effective communication with volunteers and staff to ensure all worship needs are met.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading worship from either piano or guitar in a contemporary worship context.
  • Experience with or a willingness to learn how to build and lead volunteer teams within the worship ministry.
  • Familiarity with worship production, including tracks, sound, lighting, and live streaming, and a willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a heart for developing and nurturing teams.
  • A passion for worship, spiritual growth, and creating an atmosphere where people can experience God through music, song and technology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the context of church planting and campus development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in worship ministry, particularly in a church setting that is focused on growth or campus expansion.
  • Familiarity with worship software (Planning Center, ProPresenter, Ableton and/or Playback, etc.) and basic technical equipment.
  • Understanding of theological principles of worship and an eagerness to grow as a spiritual leader.
